I love the Memphis grapevine! You hear about all the latest places to eat and the unknown treasures just awaiting the seal of approval from someone like Jennifer Biggs or Holly Whitfield. Well, a call about a loaded burger from a place called Sabor Caribe that opened where the old Burly’s Burgers & Fries and later Arepa & Salsa once stood really left my mouth watering. Apparently there’s a Bomba-B, Venezuelan Burger loaded with everything including the kitchen sink. I joke, I think.
The Bomba-B is a beef burger patty topped with American cheese, white cheese, bacon, salami, egg, avocado, coleslaw, tomatoes plus one of their premium meats – chicken, beef or pork. I went with pork, based on the smile of our server when asked which he’d choose. It’s served with seasoned fries and a lot of napkins.
A couple notes: The Bomba-B is good burger patty, loaded with different flavors and textures that somehow work nicely together. I tasted a very slight hint of the salami and a lot of egg. I got the creaminess of the cheeses, the chew and flavor of the pork, the crunch of the slaw and the richness of the avocado. I would have preferred the burger to be cooked less well done and the egg yolk to be left whole for it to break over the entire sandwich, but all in all this is a fine burger that I’d definitely make my way back to again soon. The fries could have had a stronger seasoning and didn’t come close to stealing the Bomba-B’s spotlight.
Tasty burger with so much going on. I’d give it a strong 4 out of 5 stars and recommend you go check it out for yourselves.
