Going into the Memorial Day weekend, I’d like to draw your attention to a couple of things. First and foremost, please take a few moments this weekend to think about Memorial Day and what it means to you. Spend some time discussing it with your children and make sure they don’t group up thinking of it as a three-day weekend or the start of the summer. Memorial Day is a day of remembrance for those who have died in our nation’s service. Plain and simple, without those who’ve made the ultimate sacrifice for our country in the past, we would not be enjoying the freedoms we do today.

7.5 Pounds of Burger Awesomeness

Besides May 28, being Memorial Day, this year it also happens to be National Hamburger Day. Wow! A double holiday and something else to pay honor to. My wife doesn’t know it yet, but I’m planning to take the family downtown Sunday evening and celebrate National Hamburger Day at Kooky Canuck. I’m thinking Kookamonga Burger too. That’s a 4 lb burger, on a 2 lb bun with an additional 1.5 lbs of toppings. Cool!

Between my son, my wife and myself, we should be able to make a dent in this meat monster. If not, it will be a lot of fun trying and we’ll surely have some great photos by the time we leave.

Lastly, keep your eyes and ear pealed for news about the Best Memphis Burger  Festival benefiting Mid-South Spay & Neuter Services. There will be a cooking competition, music, partying and other very exciting events going on. I’m reluctant to give you too many details at this time, but I promise you this, it’s coming and it’s going to be good!

Happy Memorial Day and Happy National Hamburger Day!
